Yellow belts must learn this form in order to advance to Yellow belt with a green stripe. The Yellow belt signifies that the student is beginning to see the light. They are starting to learn all that Taekwondo has to offer.

Il (pronounced as "ill") Jang derives its denomination from "Geon", which is one of the 8 divination signs used in the Oriental philosophy. Geon means the origin of all things in the universe. The meaning of Geon constitutes a conceptual basis of Taekwondo and the progression line of Taegeuk Il Jang takes the form of Geon's symbol mark .


Ready Position
  1. Turn left 90 into walking stance, left foot forward, left hand down block.
  2. Step trough into walking stance, right foot forward, right hand middle punch.
  3. Turning to the right 180 into walking stance, right foot forward, right hand down block.
  4. Step through into walking stance, left foot forward, left hand middle punch.
  5. Turn left 90 into front stance, left foot forward, left hand down block and then right hand middle punch.
  6. Step up with right foot 90 to the right into walking stance, right foot forward, left hand inside block.
  7. Step through into walking stance, left foot forward, right hand reverse middle punch.
  8. Turn left 180 into walking stance, left foot forward, right hand inside block.
  9. Step through into walking stance, right foot forward, left hand reverse middle punch.
  10. Turn right 90 into front stance, right foot forward, right hand down block and then left hand middle punch.
  11. Step up with left foot 90 to the left into walking stance, left foot forward, left hand high block.
  12. Right foot front snap kick and step down in front into walking stance, right leg forward, right hand middle punch.
  13. Turn right 180 into walking stance, right foot forward, right hand high block.
  14. Left foot front snap kick and step down in front into walking stance, left leg forward, left hand middle punch.
  15. Turn right 90 with left foot into front stance, left foot forward, left hand down block.
  16. Step forward into front stance, right foot forward, right hand middle punch and YELL!
Return to ready position.
